Is it a good idea to apply in Round 3 in US Schools ?

Hi Hjort

I need your help with the below. To brief you on my background, I am working in US on work permit and planning to apply in round 3 i.e. by mid March. I have already applied to 3 schools in round 1. As I know, round 3 does pose some difficulties in terms of obtaining visa but beyond that

1. Are the admission chances ( percentage of students accepted) less in Round 3 as compared to Round 1? I am planning to apply in NYU Stern, GSB Chicago and CMU, Tepper. Am I better off by applying in Round 1/2 next academic yr ?

2. Most schools emphasise visiting their campus and have specific questions around that such as NYU Stern. Even being in US, its not easy to plan a visit in terms of time and money.How do then one tackle such questions effectively ?
