Hello Experts,

Recently I have given GMAT and scored 570 :? . I have around 8 years of It experience.
So is it possible to get into a standard college with GMAT score of 600+. As I am thinking of retaking the exam.
Probably I would improve my score to max 50 points.(high chance that would be less)
Or if I cant improve, is it possible to get a good college with this score.
Open to any suggestions about colleges.
Apology if I have posted it in the wrong forum.

As I know it is possible to get into Harvard even with 650. But you MUST have very strong profile breathtaking essay and successful interview
Good luck :)

You may consider taking GRE instead of GMAT

Hi Abhirup,

Do you have any b-school names in mind? A "Good" program will be different from person to person, so it will be easier to answer your question if we have a better sense of what you consider as good.

Thanks,

GMAT is an important part of the equation but it is not the end all be all. if the other aspects of your profile are really strong, particularly your GPA they can help out a lower GMAT. Keep in mind a good school is the school that helps you reach your goals

As of now I do not have particular names in my mind. But I would prefer colleges in Canada, USA, Singapore(hoping to get bank loans for the fees). I am not sure about European market though.
Is it possible to apply into a good program in this time frame, cause mostly I am seeing that the deadline for 2017 intake is over. So i believe I have to wait for 2018 intake.(that is why I am planning to retake the exam)
For example in UBC(canada) I can see that the minimum average score required is 550, whereas the average gmat score is 650. So it makes me confused that should I apply into these colleges or not. Please suggest.

Thanks for motivating me. :) I am not sure about calculating the GPA(did some rough calculation in the Gmat exam itself,it was 3.5, though need more rigorous calculation I think). As I mentioned in my other post that I am confused about applying to good programs as there requirement and average score in the class is different.

Thank you for the post. I would certainly recommend retaking the GMAT to try to increase your score. If you are in the low 600s there are schools you can target but I would need to know more about your background before making any suggestions. Send me your resume scott@personalmbacoach.com and I will give you my thoughts.

Best,
Scott

Hi there,
For most MBA programs, your GMAT score accounts for about 20% of the admission decision. You can get into top MBA programs with a low GMAT score. Your GMAT score gives schools information about your analytical abilities, a key admission driver. In order to gain admittance in spite of a low GMAT score, your application needs to highlight your analytical achievements.
