Hi Experts,

I just took my first time GMAT Focus test today, and only got 435 scores (I know, I disappoint too.. T_T).

The thing is, despite that I only need 550 scores for my goal, is it even possible to improve my score from 435 to 550

as I only got 3 weeks? Here is my performance,
QS 71
VR 74
DI 69

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

Try to narrow your syllabus, and focus accordingly.
Choose some topics and practice, you can get your desired score in no time.

Including/mentioning which areas/issues (e.g. CR) you feel could be holding you back could be helpful. If you share your score report here, people may provide some specific suggestions based on it as well. The Share GMAT Experience subforum could also provide some helpful insight. You could see which resources people who've scored well/improved their scores have found success with and any prep tips they may have shared.

How to score high on the GMAT. Why solving approach is important.

Hi GmatKnightTutor,

My apologize as I'm new here so really didn't know which forum to ask such question.

Personally, I think that QS hold me back the most
as I'm really bad at math. However, based on the report, my verbal score rank the lowest percentile of all three sections.

Please see the detail of my score report.

Hi Peerasut,

I think improving in 3 weeks could be tight but here is some advice on what you can do over that time frame to improve your GMAT skills.

My biggest piece of advice is to ensure you are studying topically. In other words, be sure to focus on just ONE quant or verbal topic at a time and practice just that topic until you achieve mastery. If you can study that way, you will start seeing incremental improvement.

For example, let's say you are studying Number Properties. First, you'll need to learn all you can about that topic, and then practice only Number Property questions. After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, ask yourself why if you got a remainder question wrong. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant and verbal topics.

For some more tips on the best way to structure your studying, here is a great article:

Good luck!
