Hey all, I'm an undergraduate sophomore who is interested in taking the GMAT this coming break. (Although the scores won't count as I intend to apply for B school in 6-7 years, I still think it may be good practice, especially as I am less busy right now)
I've had a go at an exam using one of the free GMATPrep tests, with a score of 740 (Q50, V40, IR8), which has got me seriously considering doing the real thing. How closely do these questions mimic/represent the types of questions and difficulty level encountered in the real test?
Also, would it be possible at all to study effectively for the GMAT in a month? I was thinking of getting the Magoosh and OG Wiley packs/questions - would this be enough, and possible to complete in a short time frame?

740 is a fascinating score.
Go for it.
You don't need any books/advice if you are really at a 740 level.

A 740 is an exceptionally high score for an initial Diagnostic CAT, so you are likely already a really strong critical thinker. Assuming that you took this CAT in a realistic fashion that matches up with what you would face on Test Day, then you could potentially score at this level (or even higher) in a month on the Official GMAT. That having been said, if you're not planning to apply to Business School for 6-7 years - and the GMAT Score is only valid for 5 years - then you'll end up using a bunch of practice materials that you might find beneficial later on (depending on your point of view, that choice might also be seen as 'wasting' study materials). This is meant to say that if you want to spend the time, money and effort preparing for a GMAT result that you likely won't be able to use, then that's your choice.
