After 3 weeks of quant prep, I decided to give the OG diagnostic test a try. So far I have only done the PS section (timed), I found the diagnostic test to be harder than OG questions, and ended up scoring 16/24 (above average) in ~50 minutes.
Looking at the key answers, 2-3 questions actually had tedious solutions, which explains why OG recommends not timing the diagnostic test.
I was sort of demoralized after going through the PS part of the diagnostic test, I felt like OG questions did not reflect the actual difficulty level. Nevertheless, I'm doing CATs pretty soon, so having an adaptive source would probably provide a better indication.

It is representative. Don't focus on the official solutions - they are often not the right way to solve a problem in a minute or two. Look up other sources who solve the problem quickly. The official solutions are sometimes more like proofs than how you should be solving it. The OG has fewer tough questions. In the real test, you will be getting more tough questions than easy questions if you are doing well, so you have to practice doing tough questions - and doing them reasonably well - you can miss a few here and there if you stay on track and at right time pace. If you try and be perfect in the test, you fail.
I suggest GMAT Quantum as a source for good solutions. Not sure if he does the diagnostic questions though.

True, turns out I'm slightly better in DS than PS, just did the DS diagnostic test and scored 19/24 (which is barely "excellent" according to OG), I'll try and focus more on PS.
