m*n can be even when either of the 2 is even. So statement 1 is sufficient.

But, m*n can be odd only when both of them are ODD. Statement 2 gives no information about m. Not sufficient

FOR A PRODUCT TO BE ODD.
all the integers MUST be odd.

(1) m is even
it means product will not ODD ==>SUFFICIENT.

(2) n is odd
we dont know about m .
if m is even then NO.
if m is odd then YES.
HENCE INSUFFICIENT.

Is the product of integers m and n odd?

Since both m and n are integers, then in order their product be odd, both must be odd.

(1) m is even --> mn=even. Sufficient.

(2) n is odd --> if m is odd, then mn=odd but if m is even, then mn=even. Not sufficient.

Official Explanation

Statement (1) is sufficient. When multiplying an even number (m) by any integer (n), the result is always even.

Statement (2) is insufficient. If m is odd, the product mn is odd. If m is even, the product mn is even. Choice (A) is correct.
