Hi Jayantalawadhi.

The scoring algorithms are basically the same, although there are no uncounted experimental questions on the practice tests.

You have no idea why your performance on the actual GMAT is different from your practice test performance?

You may get some insights into what's going on from this post.

I am curious to ask experts, if the scoring algorithm on the practice tests and the gmatprep tests is the same. I have taken all 6 Prep tests. Only once did i score 700. For the other 5 tests my score ranged between 730 and 760. In these 5 attempts my Quant score was always Q50.

I have given the official test thrice now and my scores have been 680(Q48 v35), 700
(Q49 v35) and 680(Q48 v35). I was particularly surprised seeing my RC performance on my third attempt on my ESR. my CR percentile was 98%, SC was 71 and RC was 46. I have been very regularly practicing RC from LSAT and my average accuracy have been around 85%, So i am a little surprised.

Hi Jayantalawadhi,

Yes, the official practice tests use the same algorithm, just with fewer constraints (and, most likely, access to a smaller pool of questions) than the actual GMAT.

As far as the ESR is concerned, try not to read too much into the "sub-section rankings" and "performance by fundamental skills" sections. They're not particularly reliable.

Hi Jayantalawadhi,

You know, anxiety can cause some crazy things to happen on the real GMAT. Do you think you suffered from anxiety when taking the GMAT?
