Is the value of (a – b)(c – a)(d – a) > 0 ?
(1) a, b, c, and d are consecutive even integers.
(2) The average of a, b, c and d is 7.
Note : Consecutive does not necessarily mean ascending order i.e.\(2,4,6\) and \(8\)
Consecutive could also mean descending order i.e. \(8,6,4\) and \(2 \)
(1) a, b, c, and d are consecutive even integers.Let \(a,b,c\) and \(d\) be \(= 2,4,6\) and \(8\) respectively then we have a NO.
Let \(a,b,c\) and \(d\) be \(= 8,6,4\) and \(2\) respectively then we have a YES
INSUFF.(2) The average of a, b, c and d is 7.Taking hint from statement (1) I tried to see if four consecutive even integers add up to \(28.\)
Indeed \(4, 6 , 8\) and \(10\) add up to \(28\)
Again using same logic as used in processing statement (1):
Let \( a,b,c\) and \(d\) be \(= 4,6,8\) and \(10\) respectively then we have a NO.
Let \( a,b,c\) and \(d\) be \(= 10,8,6\) and \(4\) respectively then we have a YES.
INSUFF.1+2
Let \(a,b,c\) and \(d\) be \(= 4,6,8\) and \(10\) respectively then we have a NO.
Let \(a,b,c\) and \(d\) be \(= 10,8,6\) and \(4 \) respectively then we have a YES

Hope it helped.
