(2) x = x^3

IMO the answer should be E because both 0 and 1 apply to statement 1 and 2. What am I missing?

Is \(x\) one of the following integers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9?
(1) \(x^2 = x^3\) --> \(x^2-x^3=0\) --> \(x^2(1-x)=0\) --> either \(x=0\) or \(x=1\): in either way the answer to the above question is YES. Sufficient.
(2) \(x = x^3\) --> \(x-x^3=0\) --> \(x(1-x^2)=0\) --> \(x(1-x)(1+x)=0\) --> \(x=0\), \(x=1\) or \(x=-1\): if \(x\) is 0 or 1 the answer to the question is YES but if \(x=-1\) the answer to the question is NO. Not sufficient.
Answer: A.
