(1) X/|Y|=1
(2) |Y|+1=2


I will go with B. also. Since from B we can know that y=1, -1 only. Thus sufficiet.

These are typical tricky GMAT questions where if you get NO as answer, it is suff.
1) any same number with opposite/same sign --> not suff.
2) 1, -1 --> suff. as we can say NO, it cannot be 2.

(1) X/|Y|=1
(2) |Y|+1=2


(1) we have only X=|Y|, and X is positive, insufficient
(2) Y= +-1, sufficient
