Statement 1-

Case 1- y=0, x= -1 xy=0<24

Case 2- y= 7, x=6; xy=42<24

Insufficient

Statement 2-

2y> x+8

Case 1- y=0; x=-9; xy=0<24

Case 2- y= 8; x=7; xy= 56>24

Insufficient

From statement 2, we get 2y-8>x
From statement 1, we get x>y-2

hence, 2y-8 > x > y-2

2y-8>y-2
y>6

From statement 1, we get
x>4

Hence xy>24

Sufficient
