Hi, can someone please review my profile.
I am a 2011 graduate in Mechanical Engineering from MNIT, Jaipur with over 13 years of work experience in Energy sector.
Brief professional experience :
2011 - 2021 : Worked for Larsen & Toubro with diverse experience in Project Management and Cost Estimation. Had exposure to various facets of Project Management in EPC Power projects including Procurement and Sales.
2021 : Had a brief stint of 8 months with Toyo Engineering India Pvt Ltd as a Proposal Engineer. Worked on proposal & estimation of LSTK projects in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical
2022 - 2023 : Worked as Cost Control Lead with Tata Projects Limited on an LSTK Project with HPCL as customer and EIL as PMC
2023 - current : Working as Lead cost estimator with a leading Indian MNC as Lead Cost Controller for setting up a Solar Manufacturing Unit
Extra curricular activities : Half marathoner, won 2nd prize in a band competition during college days, member of organizing committee for sports events
Post Executive MBA goals : Pivot to a role in project finance where I can use my existing skills in the industry as cost controller and aim to be a CFO one day.
Academics :
X : 87.6%
XII : 88.8%
BTech (Mechanical) : 8.38/10 (CGPA)
Having browsed through various forums I've been generally of the view that an executive MBA at my age seems like a far fetched dream in top B schools in India (no intention to go abroad). I have also been procrastinating preparing for the GMAT wondering if the effort would even be worth it.
Would appreciate any inputs on the kind of programs I'd be eligible for (IIMC MBAEx, IIM B EPGP, IIM A PGPX). I am also been considering EMBA offered by IITB + Washington University but wonder if it's worth the money (INR 42 lac) considering it is not a full time residential program and therefore offers no placements.

1. It is always a good idea to go for a full time MBA program for stronger chances of pivoting and you are ok with leaving your current job. The part time programs are usually preferred if you aim to grow within the same ecosystem as you are currently in and your current growth path is quite clear in the same ecosystem. Also, at a certain level of career growth, taking a break for a one year MBA may not really be a smart move.
2. Coming to your next question of whether you should even think of applying to the one year full time MBA - yes, you must apply and you are eligible, you need a test score though.
The IIMB EPGP application portal mentions a preference of upto 12 years of work experience, so its a good idea to connect with them one on one and read as to how they percieve you as a fit. In fact you should anyways connect with all the schools directly also, to understand how you are a good fit with the program.
You must also consider applying to ISB, IIMA PGPX, IIMC MBAEX, IIML IPMX, IIM Indore EPGP and XLRI as well, we have had people with your years of work experience and more applying and getting in to multiple programs from the list. Your years of work experience itself is not a barrier technically, the competition is high no doubt.
