I too have a same question. My total work experience is 11 years in a Public sector bank. I am reviewing the options of IIMA A PGPX/ IIM C MBAEx and ISB PGPro. For IIMs , there are placements and it’s possible to take a career shift or change the company. However, for ISB PGPro, I come to know that there will be no placements drive within the campus. I am looking for some information about the outcomes of PGPro in terms of career advancement /career shift.

Hi rinkipanwar123 and harish555

I am a PGP alum from the class of 2013 and also on the L&D Advisory Council for PGPpro at ISB. First thing- for both the programs, have a long-term perspective in mind. Do not just look at the immediate salary you'd get after completion of these programs.

PGPpro doesn't have a placement process but there are immense networking opportunities with the industry leaders during the course that you can pitch for roles and in some cases. With pro, the reset will happen over time. The course is more to help you develop the skills, gain exposure to all building blocks of business, have the ISB brand and the network throughout your career.

One would opt for pro in case you cannot go for a full-time course and yet wish to have quality post-graduate education. If you can invest a year, then I suggest you target PGP for 2023 intake + other one-year programs at IIMs as well. You would need to take the GMAT/GRE and among other things a score of ~700/323 should be good at this experience range.
With a full-time program, in most cases you either would change industries or sectors. Changing both would be difficult since the recruiters would expect you to bring in your past expertise to their orgs.

Let me know in case you have questions.

All the best!

I am an HR professional with 13 years of work experience.
I got an admit in ISB PGPPRO for current year.
Slightly confused is it worth to get in this course since there are no placements or should I prepare for GMAT again and apply for full time course.
My last score was 520, 1 year ago.

Regards

Hello rinkipanwar123,

Thanks for your query.

This completely depends on why you are pursuing the program. The PGPPRO is definitely more suited to your years of experience but the PGP is the flagship program and definitely much more sought after and recognized. Having said that, everything depends on what you make of a program; so, if you go out there, perform, and look at actively networking with industry leaders, you will have opportunities even after the PGPPRO.

Making it to the PGP with 13 years of experience is not going to be straightforward, if not impossible. However, if you wish to do it, you must definitely aim for a score upwards of 720 on the GMAT and put forth compelling essays that adequately talk about why you are pursuing the PGP at this point.

All the best!

Hi harish555,

The ISB PGPRO will give you the benefit of the ISB brand, networking opportunities, and the managerial training you are looking for. While there may not be a placement process, you will, over a period of time, have access to avenues to help advance your career.

That said, nothing like pursuing the full-time programs at the IIM's if you have that option.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information ExpertsGlobal and mananS4G.
I can understand that there will be an immediate result if we get degree from IIMs whereas it takes time to experience the results after MBA of PGPPro. Moreover, it depends upon the objectives of the prospect whether to leave the company to do MBA or to get MBA while working . However, IIMs ROI and assurance of placements appear more attractive than wait for the right time to shift the company.
