Hi ExpertsGlobal,

Thanks for your feedback; I would not be able to apply in round 2 and want to gauge my chances of applying in round 3.
Will I be at a significant disadvantage?

Hello BigMan98,

You have a strong overall case and should look at applying to ISB in Round 2 unless you have a very specific reason for applying in Round 2.

Since you will be working on your essays, the following video will prove to be helpful:

Hi CrackAdmission,

That's right; however, I am not in a position to work on applications right away and cannot meet the R2 deadline. Am I at a severe disadvantage or do you reckon my profile can still make its way through the 3rd round?

CrackAdmission
Dear BigMan98,

Any specific reason you want to apply in R3 instead of R2? Is that because you want to wait it out to see the results of your US R1/R2 (wherever applicable) applications and then apply. While I understand the hedge you are building, I would still recommend that you apply to ISB in R2.

Your GMAT score and undergrad GPA positions you well in terms of academic merit. As far as professional experience is concerned, you will need to demonstrate clear growth in terms of scope of work and leadership potential in your 5+ years of career. You mentioned that you worked as a Risk Associate in a Financial Services firm. Its not clear whether that was that your starting role or ending role? If ending, just the title “Associate” might go against you since it would give an indication that you haven’t progressed a lot. Please make sure you articulate career progression clearly in your application.

Overall you seem to be a good academic fit to ISB. You will need to demonstrate through your app that you are also a good professional and cultural fit.

I am an ISB alum CO15, and have been guiding applicants for 8+ years. Please feel free to reach out in case you seek professional guidance.

Cheers and all the best!

Hello BigMan98,

As you are not positioned to apply in R2, R3 would be fine. We have, however, seen chances of admission fall in the last round. Hence, while the disadvantage may not be significant per se, there would have been a better chance in Round 2.

All the best!

Hi BigMan98

While I am glad the forum is very encouraging about your chances, I cannot clearly see the hook in your profile. What makes you unique, what is so special about your career trajectory, and your work in risk consulting across industries? If you are not able to convey your uniqueness here, you will likely falter on this aspect in the ISB application process and be rejected. The late rounds are designed to identify highly differentiated candidates who can bring a unique flavor to the classroom - people whom ISB would not want to pass on easily. If you know many similarly positioned profiles may have already applied in R1 and R2, then you already understand that R3 will be hard. Successful applicants spend a lot of time preparing their branding statements for their target business schools. Who are you professionally, in your personal life, and in the community? What does your brand look like?
