I am in my final semester of B. Pharmacy but because of some medical issues I was not able to appear for my one exam so I will have to reappear it after few months. So do you think this will affect my further rounds like do I look like a weak applicant?

Hi,
I don’t think if your reason is genuine it should be a matter of concern for you. But is that going to affect your overall gpa for the semester then I am not sure what the implications would be for it

But If I score above avg in gmat do you think this might add more weightage to it or do I consider my self out of race? Because I have a good profile with good grades in my graduation. But just because of one subject if that happens that too for a medical reason than its not my fault. Do you think I should still keep hopping and work on my gmat?

CGPA is not the only criteria. What's your GMAT score? It's YLP Young Leaders Programme, You can compensate low cgpa by demonstrating some leadership skills and with a higher GMAT score. your essays matter a lot too. You have a lot of other aspects you can work over. Goodluck :)

Hello neetabhanushali,

Thanks for writing in.

The Committee will evaluate your profile in a holistic manner; hence, a low CGPA can be compensated for with a strong overall profile.

All the best!

GoalISB has been instrumental in helping me make through the ISB YLP program. Shruti Maam was really helpful and understood my profile in detail . GoalISB provided with key insights on the requirements by ISB not only with the admissions process but also with courses, faculty, placements and extra curricular activities. This helped me to write impactful essays linking experiences to various facets of the life at ISB. Would highly recommend GoalISB for application and interview preparation. At the same time one should also speak to ISB alumni and present students for further insights.

Hello, I am currently in the final year of my undergraduate degree in India. I'm pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Christ University.
I have recently been accepted into both the Strategy and International Management course at St Gallen and also the ISB YLP programme. The ISB YLP is a deferred admission into the PGPM after I acquire two years of work experience.

I'm interested in entering the consulting sector. The SIM programme is not a deferred admission and so I can start immediately but I'm concerned about the employment opportunities for an international student who currently has no knowledge of German. But, on the other hand ISB YLP requires me to work for two years and I'm not sure about the extent of its international reputation.

I'm currently trying to decide between these two options and any advice or recommendations would be highly appreciated.

hI Shoury1234, There are many things working for you, in your profile:

i) Your undergrad is from a well known college - SSCBS

ii) You do not belong to the typical engineering/IT background

iii) You will be starting to work in a very renowned company (Deloitte)

iv) You have decent extra curricular

Coming to your GMAT score, you're actually in a slightly tricky situation; while 680 us by no means a no-go, it is also a fact that a higher GMAT score (700+) would positively impact your chances of an interview call. Hence, if you are already not a re-GMAT test-taker, I would suggest that you take GMAT once more, to see where it goes.

Frankly, you have nothing to lose, by retaking GMAT, because the only way you can go in the GMAT, is upwards. After all, if you score lesser than your current score, then you are obviously going to cancel your score. Looking at your score split, it is also very evident that the majority of your efforts in your re-attempt, have to be dedicated to verbal.

Thanks a ton for the elaborate response.

A clarification question, if I get an interview call, then does a 680 score reduce chances of conversion.

Or is the disadvantage only limited to getting an interview call?

The very fact that ISB calls you for interview, is an indication that you are definitely a person whose candidature they are considering positively.
