ESSEC MiM 2020!

what GMAT score should be sufficient for my profile for ESSEC's MIM for round 2?

Brief profile -

4th year engineering student from IP university
CGPA - 7.2
National-level badminton player
Sponsored for 4 years from COSCO(INDIA)
Founder of Event management startup with revenue of 1 million and sponsors like Redbull and Tata Steel.
1 internship in sales and marketing from Mondelez International
3 NGO internships
Co-curricular captain in school

ESSEC repeatedly states that GMAT is not the end-all when it comes to their selection process.
Even I did not have a stellar GMAT score, it being only 680.


I would say aim for anything above 680. But please focus equally on your SoPs,LoRs and interview because I felt these elements are what helped me get in as much as the GMAT.

So, I should not apply with a 660-670 GMAT?

I wouldnt say a no. ESSEC told me that they have rejected people with a 750 GMAT and selected people with 630.

If you feel you can do better on the GMAT,I'd say go and take the test again because 2nd and 3rd round applications for these colleges do tend to get more competitive.
However, a 670 GMAT will not be the sole reason for rejection.

Good luck for the R2 deadline
ESCP mean GMAT for R1 is hovering around 680, your GMAT coupled with a strong application should get a fair shot.

I always recommend applicants to never skip the optional questions for any school- be it the optional essay or the cover letter, because -
A. You get only so much space in the entire application to showcase your story - As you must have read in this thread - Schools have rejected applicants with 730+ GMAT scores, and accepted ones even with 650+ (The latter did a better job of justifying his goals and showcasing his story). Essays can literally make or break your application so its a good idea to utilize all the spaces to showcase your story.

B. Submitting the optional essays reiterates your seriousness of getting into the program.
