Ayushmaan_2003 hope you are wellYou have a very impressive profile, and I see lots of potential for the future. However, I don't feel very confident about your GMAT score. We don't know at this point how respective schools perceive the 655 on the FE. The evaluation is all relative, right? The average for this entry (YLP) could be very high for engineers. If you feel you have it in you, try to improve your score and take it up a few notches. Admissions committees do not want to be lenient with engineers when they don't have much to offer otherwise to the class, and YLP candidates, since they have not yet started on their professional contributions, fall into this category.
The adcoms take into full consideration your future potential and where you stand currently to decide whether they can move you forward in the YLP process. See how it goes for you. If they feel that you will do just fine applying directly to the PGP later with your strong credentials and lucrative professional opportunities ahead of you, but at this point, you have some areas you need to focus on, they might pass on an invitation for YLP stages. This will not be a reflection of your capabilities but rather a hint that they feel some deep introspection (and maturity) is required, perhaps around your objectives or other aspects.
Deferred MBA programs have an aim to provide opportunities for candidates who want to explore diverse paths (or at least have a vision) beyond just climbing the corporate ladder. How you you will do in this area will impact the adcom’s perception of you. I really like your internship in econometrics. If there is an opportunity to work in a role that helps you put your knowledge and learnings into practice, that could really set you apart as a YLP candidate.Feel free to connect should you want professional guidance on the application
Best wishes
