If you send a complaint for a refund/rescheduling, mention the non-disputable parts of your story, for example, the exam starting roughly an hour after your scheduled start time.

I faced two very unfortunate events while writing the exam:

1. There was no representative from the test centre at the scheduled time of the test. I had to wait at the test centre till 02:15 PM and the designated test centre's room was locked. There was not even a security guard or any other person to inform me about the delay in the test. After waiting from 12:30 pm to 2:15 pm ( i.e. 45 min after the scheduled test start time), I was just about to leave the test centre when the invigilator arrived. She took another 15-20 min to set up all the computers in the test room. I found a telephone number of the test centre online somehow, but there was on response from the number regarding the postponement/delay of the test.

2. After the test started, the room was heating up very badly since it is the peak Summer season. The air-conditioner in the centre was not working during the entire duration of the test and after 1 hour into the test, the invigilator told me that the Air-Conditioner had been broken down for the last 2 months so I need to continue the test in these conditions. I was completely drenched in sweat during this time and had no option but to continue the test in these poor conditions. There was barely any ventilation from outside to add further to my suffering.

My test performance was of course affected due to these unfortunate events. Both these events occurred merely due to the ignorance of the test centre management team.

Is there any support I might get from GMAC regarding this?

Did you try calling the folks at GMAC to see what they could do for you?

I have faced a similar situation in one of the test center here in India. It was a Third Party Centre and not managed by Pearson directly.

I raised the complaint and gave them reasons as to how my performance was affected my previous score was 640 and on that attempt it was 450. It was horrendous to say the least.

The reattempt and test cancellation wasn't easy. One executive said on email we cannot do anything. I again called and spoke to customer support and asked them to check the recording. Shared my phone record and told to ask the invigilator if he was late or not.

I also mentioned that they ask us to reach 30 mins before time. The candidate comes prepared only to see that the center is not yet open and the facilities are sub standard while the fee for the exam is same $250.

After a Month of back and forth os was able to get a refund/coupon to apply without any fee.

Unfortunately I have not yet been able to get my target score yet. And I still have some issues with GMAC.

I feel if you are stubborn and constantly at their back you will get what you deserve which is a complete refund or a reattempt with a zero cost.

Do let me know if you need any help.

Good Luck.

Unfortunately, this happens all too often. Pearson makes it hard for a test taker to get a refund/free retake.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
