anyway, thank you for replying to my query. I had the things resolved; I spent 3 hrs breaking into all the system directories/registry to figure out what could have caused the issue.
At the end, I found it is simple bug (i guess) that messed up everything. PPrep puts 2 different exe in 2 diff folders (PGMAT/PPREP) and uses Microsoft's modeswap to link these 2 exe. I am guessing that mode swap is not compatible with the XP, or PPREP may have the older version of it (compatible to '95 or 2000). In an case, what I had to do 's to provide the link directly to the PGMAT folder intsead of letting the mode swap try that. And all worked great!!!
