Hi,
I am trying to make a career change from the IT Industry into the finance domain(Venture Capital focusing on Technology Sector). I know its a niche sector and difficult get in i.e. why I have also enrolled myself for the CFA level I exam in December.
Would appreciate if you could throw some light on the colleges that are most known for career shifts (especially IT to finance). I have a GMAT of 700(Verbal - 41/93% , Quant- 44/61%). I know this isn't much information about my profile but as of now I am just looking for a list of colleges I can start researching about and come back with more questions
Also , as aforementioned I am giving my CFA level I in DEC and am positive about clearing it.so is better to apply to few colleges post results but that would in all prob be Round 3..??

Certainly there are a few ways to look at your issue... career changing is VERY common during the MBA degree, certainly. At the same time, the more drastic your changes, the tougher it can be, both in terms of landing that job, and in terms of admissions to the school in the first place. The more you can show a) how your past skills will translate to your future career, and b) that you've really done your research and started to get involved in areas that will benefit your 'new' career path, the better, in terms of admissions. Certainly the CFA will help. Most b-schools are similarly positioned to help those changing careers, though Rotman comes to mind as one that is known for more drastic career changes percentage wise. Most top programs will also be strong in the area of finance. I'd definitely want to do an internship so would not want to look at a one-year option.
