12 wedding pictures + 10 graduation pictures + 14 birthday party pictures = 36 pictures
Of those 36 pictures, 22 are EITHER wedding pictures OR graduation pictures (12 + 10 = 22)
So, P(wedding picture OR graduation picture) = 22/36 = 11/18
Answer: D

Those events are mutually exclusive. Pictures can be either from wedding, from graduation or from birthday party but cannot be both simultaneously (unless somebody combines graduation with wedding 
). Similar to non-overlapping sets.
Hence P(Wedding U Graduation) = P(wedding) + P(Graduation) = \(\frac{12}{36} + \frac{10}{36} = \frac{22}{36} = \frac{11}{18}\)
