James Weldon Johnson's God's Trombones was a collection of folk sermons in verse finished in 1927, his most important poetic achievement.

(A) James Weldon Johnson's God's Trombones was a collection of folk sermons in verse finished in 1927, his most important poetic achievement.

OA is B.

I selected between B and C. Why B not A? :o

In A, "his" doesn't have clear antecedent i.e. "James Weldon Johnson"

I dont this we have a pronoun problem in A .Rather its a modifier problem. "His" clearly refer backs to James.
"most important poetic achievement" seem to modifiy "folk sermon"

right! missed that one.

"his" can refer back to JWJ's

B: not passive and has the referent.
C: passive
D: which is not used correctly

Its not A because the pronoun his does not have a clear referent .
The sentence starts with a possessive noun 'James Weldon Johnson's' and not with the Noun itself .
Therefore A is incorrect.
IMO B
