Don't really have enough information to tell you what to do here but these are the questions I would be thinking about.
• Are you overrepresented? Will you be competitive in round three for NC add? I don't think I would recommend round four.
• If you're taking the exam for the first time how confident are you that you're going to get the score you need? It's honestly pretty rare that people get their best score on the first try. I used to teach GMAT for 18 years so I know what I'm talking about. People take this exam a lot of times to get their ideal score so that there might just answer the question. You might reflect on past standardized exams how that went in terms of getting your best score on the first attempt.
• What will your profile look like in September? Will it be substantially better or is there likely not to be any changes for the better?
• How important is it to you to get financial aid? The honest truth is that European schools are not as generous as US schools in terms of financial aid but for INSEAD, most of the scholarships are in round one and round two very few past that. Like the diversity scholarship is available in round 3+ and just a couple of others. Probably not the most important consideration given that they are not super generous with financial aid but something to keep in mind.
• Are INSEAD and HEC, and possibly IMD, your top picks? Are you most interested in a French MBA? Do you speak French? Do you plan to speak French/work in France? Because if none of those are your first choice then it probably makes more sense just to wait for September so that you're applying along those same timelines with the other schools.
• For INSEAD, if you apply or rather admitted to January intake it kind of slows the pace of the program down to something more manageable because you have the summer internship. Also if you are planning to go into finance or something like that, something that needs an internship then obviously January intake is better. You can get into consulting without an internship from INSEAD but it is probably wise to have the chance to do an internship and consulting to see if it's a good fit for you, otherwise it's kind of a low ROI with the MBA. So, the question about whether or not you need an internship is relevant for INSEAD. With HEC they do the internship a little differently, I probably wouldn't do it at the end of the term for the same reason I just mentioned you want to have the chance to re-recruit.
• On the flip side, if you have any interest in working in Dubai or the Middle East or whatever, you could only do a period in the Middle East during September intake at INSEAD.
• I would really think about where you want to end up geographically post MBA and consider the options from there. Like if you want to go to the Netherlands or Germany then you might want to apply to IEEE in September, if London is on your radar or Dubai then you probably want to apply to LBS. If you're thinking about an English speaking country, I'm not positive its ideal to focus on HEC. In sum, you want to take a look at the number of graduates in your desired geographic area and the strength of the alumni connections there (how many reply is a proxy for this, most often)

Hi All,
I'm planning to give my GMAT by end of may and currently a bit confused whether I should target Jan'24 intake (at HEC & Insead) or wait till Sep'24. My target unviersities are from Europe / UK only. Hence, pleasse suggest.
Thanks!
