1 litre of Jar A solution would contain 0.2 litre of alcohol and 1 litre of Jar B solution would contain 0.4 litre of alcohol
Assuming resultant mixture contained A litre of Jar A solution and B litre of jar B solution.
Total alcohol = 0.2A + 0.4B
Resultant mixture's weight = A+B litre, which contains 25% alcohol i.e., 0.25(A+B)
Therefore, 0.25(A+B) = 0.2A + 0.4B
25(A+B) = 20A+40B
=> 5A = 15B => A/B = 3/1
We need to find volume of A in resultant mixture = A/(A+B) = 3/4
Answer: D
Assuming resultant mixture contained A litre of Jar A solution and B litre of jar B solution.
Total alcohol = 0.2A + 0.4B
Resultant mixture's weight = A+B litre, which contains 25% alcohol i.e., 0.25(A+B)
Therefore, 0.25(A+B) = 0.2A + 0.4B
25(A+B) = 20A+40B
=> 5A = 15B => A/B = 3/1
We need to find volume of A in resultant mixture = A/(A+B) = 3/4
