Hey everyone! Sorry if this post is in the wrong place, I'm new to these forums.
I'm new to the whole MBA application thing and would like some advice from any members who are willing to comment here.
I'm interested in pursuing a JD/MBA degree from a top law/MBA school in the USA. I'm interested in Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Kellogg, Johnson, BU and BC in particular for my degrees.
I've got the LSAT & law side of the equation under control. I've applied to schools this year already, but may reapply next cycle because of late applications this cycle that minimized my chances of acceptance at my target schools. I was originally planning to apply to the MBA component of my joint degree during my first year of law school after acceptance, but if I end up reapplying everywhere next cycle I will apply to both MBA and law schools at once during the fall.
As I said I am well acquainted with the law side of all of this. I need help with the MBA application...I apologize in advance if some of my questions seem..."elementary" to say the least. I know the gist of what is required on an MBA application (GPA, GMAT, Letters of rec from employers/supervisors, essays. & resume) but need help with the specifics.
1. What are the best practices for studying for the GMAT? Self study? Online courses? Group classes? What are the best books to use? I would be aiming for a 700 score or a 650 at least.
2. How does the GMAT counterbalance with the GPA? Is one more important than the other? Significantly more important?
3. Do undergraduate majors matter at all in the MBA application process? I have not taken any math classes during my undergraduate studies since I was a history student. Can a good GMAT or quant section of the GMAT make up for lack of math courses on my transcript?
