34. Jessie is looking for you and wants to know if you will like to go to her birthday party next weekend.
a) wants to know if you will like to go
b) would like knowing if you can go
c) is wanting to know if you like going
d) wants to know if you would like to go
e) is wondering if you would be interested to go

Can some one explain why are we using "Would" instead of "Will", when the whole sentence is in present tense?(Choice A Vs D) Thanks! :)

I am afraid that all the choices have a fundamental diction problem. The conditional marker ‘if’ cannot be used for fixing a doubt or a preference, for which ‘whether’ is the correct word. Reluctantly, therefore, D, if we were to ignore the wrong diction

Could someone please explain the error in E?

Is it the tense - "is wondering" which may mean that he is looking and wondering at the same time..?

I do not see any issue with looking and wondering happening simultaneously. Option D is better probably because like is more concise than be interested.

For hypothetical cases, would is used. It is not known whether you would come or not; Jessie is only hypothesizing, she is not sure about your coming - hence would is used.

Dear team, I am still confused between A&D. why we can't use "will". I am not getting convinced by above explanation. Please help
