Welcome to gmatclub. It is a great forum.
It is tough to break into finance sector in this market condition if you have no prior experience. There are loads of people with great experience looking for jobs. Having said that, I strongly believe anything is achievable if you have passion for it. Finance sector is very broad (IB, Investment Mgmt, Capital mkts - Equities, Debt, PE, Hedge funds, etc). You can increase your chances of getting a job in finance by the following three things.
a. Prepare for CFA Level I.
b. Network Network Network. Move to NY if you are not here already. Write to people and ask them to meet for a coffee. Use Linkedin extensively.
c. Try to do a free internship at a firm where you have some chances of being absorbed.
I have less knowledge in Accounting sector. I will not comment on that.
Good luck!

Hello guys and gals,
First thread I have created, don't be too harsh

. I would like some advice from the very knowledgeable people of the GMATclub forum. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2009 from a 'non-elite' school. Frankly, I don't believe the school's business department is ranked. Anyway, I know work at an entrepreneurial Marketing firm.
Basically, I believe my current job is not providing me good experience for growth. I did minor in Accounting, and want to at least break into the financial or accounting sector. I have been looking for jobs with no luck. I am looking for advice on how to do so, or if that is not something I can break into.
I do plan to get my MBA from a top 20 school, and am going to study like crazy when the GMAT comes. However, if I want to get into a good school, I definitely need the right experience! Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you very much everyone, I have learned so much from these forums already!
