Anyone have thoughts on how your application is affected if you lose your job (for company reasons not tied to you) between submission of your application and your interview?
Since most interviews are blind and require you to send your resume to the interviewer, I figure it will come up in the interview at some point. Will it have a negative impact on your chances of acceptance? How should it be handled?

Layoffs are a part of business. I wouldn't worry about it unless you got fired for performance issues. Even if you got fired, I don't believe you are required to state so under law (someone correct me if I am wrong).

Like Tarmac said, unless your job loss is performance related, I don't think it has any impact on your application.
Considering the economic situation right now, I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one in that situation. In fact, my company is undergoing a major restructuring and I may be out of a job by Xmas.
