Hello GMATClub,

We are presenting here placements stats of class of 2016 students of various top US BSchools. Applications for 2018 intake will open in next 2-3 months; Stanford and Columbia have already released their application deadlines for the coming season so we thought it is right time to post the latest placement stats and analysis of employment trends so that it can help prospective applicants in shortlisting bschools to apply. Ofcourse mere placement rate or salary figures of a school can't be the criterion for shortlisting that school but it is equally important to see whether your target companies recruit at your school, how many students of the class go in to your target industry, what are the salaries offered, etc. We hope these data tables provide you adequate information of the placement stats at your target schools and help you in your school research.

  • Table #2 displays percentages of students employed at graduation as well as within 3 months. It also shows percentage of class recruited by top 4 industries: Consulting, Finance, Technology, and Healthcare.
  • Table #3 displays school's average salary as well as salaries offered to students recruited in Consulting, Finance, Technology, and Healthcare.
  • Table #1 shows top 3 schools by placement rates and salaries at each of these four industries.
  • As we can see Columbia, Wharton, Booth, and Stern dominate finance recruitment. They have sent greatest percentage of their graduates in Finance industry. It's no surprise as all these schools are known for their strong finance program.
  • Kellogg, Columbia, and Darden have highest consulting recruitments as expected.
  • Haas is leading tech recruitments. Among M7 schools, Stanford and MIT Sloan, which have strong recruitment in tech sector, have sent 33% and 29% of their graduates in tech sector.
  • As for salaries, Stanford has reported all time high salaries to its graduates and it's reflected in industry salary figures as well - It's salary figures for Finance, Healthcare, and Tech recruitments are highest among all schools.
  • There is a significant gap in Finance salaries. Top Finance salary is $162K whereas 3rd highest salary is $137K, difference of $25K. On the other hand Consulting salaries are consistent at top schools. Top Consulting salary is $140K whereas 3rd highest salary is $138K, difference of just $2K
  • Among all schools, Tuck school has demonstrated balanced recruitment. 21% of its graduates landed in Consulting industry, 12% in CPG, 26% in Finance, 16% in Technology, 9% in Healthcare, 6% in Manufacturing, and sizeable number graduates Media, Energy, and non-profit sectors as well.
