Official Explanation

Choice (B) changes the superlative greatest to great and hence, is wrong.

Choice (C) is idiomatically wrong as it uses essay about. The correct usage is essay on.

Choice (D) is wrong because when read in continuation with rest of the sentence it would imply that the essay was on two different people, which is not correct.

Choice (E) uses superfluous words ‘who was’. It is also idiomatically wrong in using economists in the...

Choice (A) is the best option.
