Juan, Nicole, and Jacobo are saving money at constant rates in order to accumulate a fixed amount. Working individually, they would require 3 years, 6 years, and 8 years, respectively, to accumulate this amount. LCM of (3,6,8) = 24 units -> Let this be the total amount to be accumulated.
Juan takes 3 years to accumulate this amount, so -> 24 units/3 years = 8 units/year
Similarly, Nicole -> 24 units/6 years= 4 units/year ; Jacobo -> 24 units/8 years = 3 units year.
Neat. Together they accumulate -> 8+4+3= 15 units per year
To accumulate 24 units -> 24 units/15 units per year = 8/5 years
8/5 years in months -> 8/5 x 12= 19.2
Easy to jump and choose 19 as the answer, but to accumulate the required amount we need just a bit more than 19 months so the answer is 20 (Option D)
