So my score for the test I just took was 660 (79th percentile). Q41 (48 %tile) and V40 (91 %tile).
The verbal is slightly higher than what I've been getting on practice, but the Q is much lower than I have been getting and not lining up with what I was getting on practice exams/problems (Kaplan and GMAC practice tests / practice problems).
Based on the fact that is was more than several standard deviations outside of what I've been getting, I feel like this result was an outlier. I want to retake the exam again, but the only available date is Monday of next week. I plan on applying in January. I don't think there's much to cover, but I really just want to try my luck again, since I know my other scores have been much better. And the difference was that on my practice, I was averaging 75-85 percentile. I don't feel like this Q score is representative of what I should've got.
Is it silly to re-take the test so soon? I'm willing to part with my $250 for another shot, and I'm willing to risk official score reports not hitting my January deadlines since hopefully some will consider the unofficial scores, plus I think the scores should be delivered faster than the 20 day estimate. Also, the weak part of this test was my Q score. If anything, the Q score should be the strong point for adcoms at MBA programs, right?
Thoughts? Silly of me for wanting to re-take the GMAT so soon? I really believe this was a fluke...understood I'm not going to learn a whole lot more or soak up any new information (I feel comfortable with my prep and felt good about my practice exam scores)..but I really feel like I could do better than what came out of the first official test.
