Hi! I decided to apply to 2 european business schools (ESCP, IE) and my main goal is to receive at least a partial scholarship and start classes this October... but after taking the test (mba dot com) for the first time today I'm not sure it's realistic for me to aim for October given the time frames for applications and the fact that apparently I need to learn everything math-related all over again.
When giving the test I recognized all the math topics because during my 1st bachelor year I had math-intensive courses but I seem to have forgotten absolutely everything (it's been 7 years that I haven't solved 1 math problem) and this result is so discouraging to me, is it possible to score high on quant with only 2-3 months of preparation???

Hi. Welcome to GMAT Club.
I have started with 540 and four months later I had 750. Usually people spend three months or close to four months to cover both quant and verbal So it’s definitely possible to get your Quant back up. You can use books or there are several inexpensive courses (sub $100) that focus on math.
In terms of books, I could recommend the Kaplan general book and the math workbook. I can also recommend the foundations of GMAT math either by Kaplan or Manhattan. I like the Manhattan version better. You can also get the Manhattan overall Quant book. Don’t get all of them though just get the foundations and another one but don’t go overboard with a bunch of books.
In terms of courses, you can get either target test prep or math revolution. Target test prep is very thorough and detailed. Math revolution focuses on teaching math to the non-engineering types.
There’s also a whole variety of other courses that I didn’t even mention that are awesome and include both quant and verbal. Eg. Mpower GMAT is also sub $99 and includes both math and verbal. Magoosh is a tighter and more intensive course. There are also the big guns but since you are a tight timeline I would recommend going for the big programs. They provide the most improvement but they require time.

The diagnostic test is just to assess yourself and to see where you stand. It helps you to identify your weak areas and plan your studies properly. Your Verbal score is very good but the quant is the only concerns. With 2-3 months of prep, you can definitely improve your score. And do not worry about the score. There are many students who have scored less than 500 in their diagnostic test but eventually scored 700+ on their actual test. So, it's all about preparing in the right way. Let me help you here.

And as you need to start everything from scratch for the Quant section, I suggest you to go with a standard resource. I would suggest you to choose a resource which can help you with:
- Concepts
- Methodology (Most important)
- Standard questions
- Their detailed solutions
- Study plan
Preparing for GMAT is already a tedious task and you wouldn't want to spend the time you have in planning what to study and sorting out things. Having a clear idea of what to study on a day will make life easy for you. So, choose a resource which can provide you with a study plan.
