Hi ScottTargetTestPrep and EMPOWERgmatRichC,

First to answer Scott,

1) What is your GMAT score goal? 690
2) Have you taken any official practice exams from MBA(dot)com? [b]Yep

3) What study/review resources did you use for your first attempt?Kaplan, MGMAT practice tests
4) Are you looking to study with a more quant focused resource for your retake? Kind of, but since I enjoy verbal more I probably will work on that as well to get that score up
5) If you do not see significant score improvement on practice exams prior to your early June retake, are you open to rescheduling your GMAT to a later date? Eh, depends. If I don't get into the program I want with this GMAT score, I'll apply again in Winter and retake.

Now EMPOWER,

1) What is your goal score? 680+. I'm confident in other aspects of my application.
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School? By July 1.
3) Do you know which Schools you plan to apply to? Only Booth, part-time.

Hi biotobusiness,

For both the Chicago Booth Evening Program and Weekend MBA program, the average GMAT score is a 680 (80 percent fall in the 620 - 750 range).

Considering that you only studied for a short period of time and still scored a 630 on the GMAT, you should be able to add another 50 to 100 points to this score with a few more months of rigorous study. What were your scores on the MBA.com practice tests you took?

My general advice to you would be to take the necessary time to carefully prepare for your retake. You’re obviously capable of a great score. Why settle for something less than what you’re capable of? As you know, GMAT scores are on the rise at top schools…

If you’d like some personalized guidance on how to prepare for your retake, I’d be happy to help. In addition, here are a few articles I wrote for Poets and Quants. Perhaps you’ll find them useful as you ramp up your studying:
