2x-b=0
2x=b
x=b/2 and b<1 which indicates b can be fraction, 0 or negative value

so for any value of x that is less than -2 the equation 2x-b=0 can be satisfied keeping the value of b<1

Am i right?

D. x < 3.

I do not like this question.

I hate this question. I remember I got something similar to this in the real GMAT and I messed up :( Unfortunately it was the 1st question and my nerves got the better of me then :( :(

BTW ... The ans to on should be D.

x=b/2
since b < 1, x could be any value less than 1/2

so x<1/2

D. X<3 satisfies this condition.

2x-b = 0
or, b = 2x

but as per the above condition b < 1 this means 2x < 1
which implies that x < 1/2
only option x < -2 will be best suited for the above question

Please verify and let me know in case of any queries

IMO B)

x<3 cannot be true because x=2 means b=4 which is wrong

B

2x = b
2x < 1

The only option that fulfills this is x < -2

Everybody agrees that x must be less than 1/2. Thus x must be less than 3. This does not imply however, that x could be between 1/2 and 3. Are we are saying in choosing D is that we know for sure that x is less than 3.
