Yeah, its actually a clever marketing strategy => You take the Kaplan test, score a 550, then you panic and buy 10 hours of private tutoring or enroll in their $1500 course.

Although I should note (and I have mentioned this before), I really believe that the difficulty level of the actual GMAT has gone up over the past year, especially the quant section. So the Kaplan might not be representative of what you'll get on the real thing, but I think the days of people scoring 570 on the Kaplan and then taking the real exam a few days later and scoring a 740 are over. I think Pearson has stepped it up a notch with respect to the quant section. When do you plan on taking the exam?

I would take the online PR test instead. It's much closer to the real thing.
