Yes, right, I just realised that. It can either positive or negative but we don't know which one it is.

As per your solution, we are getting two values for kara's study time.

Hence answer should be Option E right?

(1) The standard deviation of study time at Kara’s school is 2.8.
Insufficient,
There can be numerous possibilities of different data points to arrive at standard deviation of 2.8 and given mean of 13.4

(2) Kara’s study time is one standard deviation away from the mean.
Insufficient,
We don't know the standard deviation.

Combining (1) and (2),
We know both standard deviation and mean. Kiara's study time = (mean) +/- 1*(standard deviation) = 13.4 +/- 2.8

Hence, (C) is the answer.
