Hello !
I am an international candidate and need some help on choosing between schools (admitted to) for the Operations / SCM program. I am serious about SCM but also want to add Strategy / Finance to my concentration.
1. My admits are as follows:
a. Katz FT MBA with a 28K scholarship
b. Haslam FT MBA with a 57K scholarship
c. Carey Evening MBA no scholarship
2. Total cost incurred (tuition + living) is more or less same at all schools - estimated @ 100K
3. Rankings based on US News:
General Ranking: Katz - 52; Haslam - 64; Carey - 30
SCM Ranking: Haslam - 8; Katz - outside top 10; Carey - 6
4. Money is some constraint but I can manage the finances with either Katz / Haslam. Carey is a stretch.
5. My ideal company to work for is something in heavy engineering - Cummins, Caterpillar, Danaher, etc... So, where are the prospects better for a job (for an int'l candidate) at such companies?
6. How does evening MBA @ Carey compare to FT MBA at Katz / Haslam in terms of concentration, future job prospects? Also, a disadvantage @ Carey is that working professionals are attending the evening MBA program so an internship might be tougher for me. You thoughts?
7. Lastly, Katz and Carey is a regular 20-month program while Haslam is a 17-month program. Haslam has the same number of credits but I am not sure how does Haslam finish the course in 17 months, given that everything, including the internship, is present as other programs. There is this Global Business Trek for Haslam which I think counts for that 3-month differential, but I am not sure and could use any help from you people on this.
