I come from a sales background. I want to go into marketing (brand management) in the Bay Area, where I'm from. I'm leaning towards Kellogg, but was thinking about considering NYU if I receive a scholarship for more than 50%. However, then I think about how I have the chance to go to the best marketing program and I don't know if I should let price be my sole determination. Less than 50% from NYU wouldn't entice me, as the cost to attend NYU is already about $20K higher.
How much money, if any, would make you choose NYU over Kellogg?
My instinctual answer was 75K-100K to deeply consider NYU it but in reality that's a super random number and Kellogg vs NYU is a really personal decision.
Instead here's some grossly simplified calculations just bc I was wondering how it would end up.
Kellogg est cost = 180K
Kellogg 2014 avg marketing base salary = 110K avg
NYU est = 200K
NYU 2014 avg marketing salary = 96K
base salary margin over 5 years = 70K (Kellogg favor)
tuition and fees margin = 20K (Kellogg favor)
=> pretending the experience is equal (and a bunch of other assumptions), one shouldn't go to NYU unless they offered at least $90K
$90K before even taking experience into account is a lot....... *surprised* but it is grossly simplified
congrats!
