Kelly and Chris packed several boxes with books. If Chris packed 60 percent of the total number of boxes, what was the ratio of the number of boxes Kelly packed to the number of boxes Chris packed?

(A) 1 to 6
(B) 1 to 4
(C) 2 to 5
(D) 3 to 5
(E) 2 to 3
Let Total No of boxes be

So, Chris packed 60 boxes and Kelly packed 40 boxes...

Thus, the number of boxes Kelly packed to the number of boxes Chris packed is 40 : 60 => 2 : 3 , Answer must be (E)

(C) 2 to 5
(D) 3 to 5
(E) 2 to 3

If there are a total of 100 boxes, Chris would have packed 60 boxes and Kelly would have packed 40 boxes. Therefore, the ratio of the number of boxes packed by Kelly to those by Chris is 40/60 = 2/3.

Answer: E
