Hello
Abbas11112223322,
I hope you are doing well. Your chances of getting into an M7 program with a 2.9 GPA and a 730 GMAT score are critical. Your work experience, extracurricular activities, and story are impressive, and they may help to offset your low GPA. However, it is important to be realistic about your chances and to have a backup plan in case you are not admitted to an M7 program.
Here are some things you can do to increase your chances of getting admitted to an M7 program:1. Get a 750 GMAT score. A 750 GMAT score would be a significant improvement over your 730 score, and it would show admissions committees that you are capable of handling the academic rigors of an M7 program.
2. Write compelling essays. Your essays are your opportunity to tell your story and explain why you are a good fit for an M7 program. Be honest and transparent about your low GPA, and focus on your strengths and accomplishments.
3. Get strong letters of recommendation. Ask professors, supervisors, or other mentors to write letters of recommendation for you. Choose people who can speak to your skills, potential, and character.
4.Consider applying to Round 2 or Round 3. Admissions committees are often more forgiving of low GPAs in later rounds.
If you are not admitted to an M7 program, you may want to consider applying to T15 programs. T15 programs are still highly competitive, but they may be more lenient with low GPAs than M7 programs. You may also want to consider applying to schools that are known for their strong product management programs, such as
1. Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business
2. University of Michigan Ross School of Business
3. University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Here are some additional tips for increasing your chances of getting admitted to a top MBA program:
1. Network with alumni and current students. Get to know people who have attended your target schools and learn more about their experiences.
2. Attend admissions events. This is a great way to learn more about the schools you are interested in and to meet admissions officers.
Good luck with your MBA applications!

Applying in Fall 2024
GMAT: 730 (Might hit 750)
GPA: 2.9
Major: Electrical Engineering
Country: Pakistan
First generation college going student.
Graduation year : Aug 2019
Job : Product Manager
Post-MBA goal : Product Manager at a FAANG
I graduated in Aug 2019 but didnt start working full until Feb 2021 as I was a primary care giver for my mother who was diagnosed with last stage brain cancer in oct 2019. Chose to not work full time and spend the last few months of my mom's life with her. Did an internship and a lot of free product courses online.
My first job was for 7 months as an analyst in a software development company. Left because second job offer was a 100% pay raise and much better
My second job was at a local startup for 6 months. There was a leadership change a few months I was in the job, causing 90% of the product team to leave and find new jobs. Culture and leadership became too toxic
My third job, where I have spent almost 2 years as of yet and this is where I would be applying from as well, is a stripe backed and y combinator backed fintech in Pakistan. I will have 2 promotions by the time I apply. Also 2.6 years here at the time of application and 3.6 years at matriculation. I have launched products that have made millions for the company. Im hoping this could minimize the short stint damage.
Extracurricular: Volunteer at one of the largest education sector NGOs in Pakistan which runs schools for children in extreme poverty. Raised over Rs 500,000 for this NGO and still going strong.
My goal is to get into M7 but T 15 bare minimum, and schools which can help me land Product positions in big tech.
What are my chances ?
