Kudos: a new feature...

Question

OK I had someone ask me a question on these...I am sure some of you have noticed the new "kudos" feature that appears under peoples names. This is meant to reward people for excellent posts, if someone answers a question for you, gives you good feedback, or provides some great information feel free to click the + button to give them some kudos. Mods have the ability to give large amounts of kudos at once, an example of that is I gave hjort, paul b., and the gameplan guys a big chunk of kudos at once because they do such a great service for all of us here.

Kudos will provide a guideline to give people additional privileges to areas such as the essay vault. This is intended to provide people an incentive to post helpful and quality information. Hypothetically a person could get huge numbers of kudos with just a few posts, Pelihu has earned a very large number for his schmoozing posts in the student forum.

I dont think this needs to be said since we very rarely have anyone post things that are offensive but be warned mods can take away kudos, this will serve as a good guide for people that are not welcome here.

Have to be careful that kudos isn't given willy nilly, or it culd end up de-meaning it

haha, I could always take away river's kudos

but we did anticipate that, so anything that uses Kudos as a criteria will probably have a high threshold. We just don't know what a good "number" is yet. Give it a few months time to sort out.

I think people should give Kudos away freely. I mean in reality at best only 1 in 10 posts someone makes are kudos worth so whenever you see something that adds something to the sight reward it.

As Kry said the threshold is probably going to be pretty high, obviously a mod can give 100pts at once but that will probably be very rare so its gonna rely on people recognizing good posts.

yes, I'm only giving the multiples to people who have contributed over the past 2 years and deserve to have some "kudos" in their bucket. People like Aau, rhyme, pelihu, and others who still comes back and helps us newbies with our incessant questions.
