Yes... I was hearing some horror stories when I went to orientation of companies that were very angry that their employees were leaving. Seemed mostly to be smaller offices. Fortunately my company has a very pro-education, pro-"leaving to better yourself" mentality. My company also has about 47 thousand employees at this point, so unlike a small consulting office for example, if I leave it isn't the end of the world. That being said going out as I did is very nice and I would say about the best way to exit any position.

My last day ......
Calling me to his office, my boss said to me I was about to have a promotion in the next 2 months, which he already submitted paper to HR. My friends and colleagues were waiting outside for a big party sponsored by my company. He mentioned whether I needed a recommendation for an internship in NYC office. Sweet memories!

You know, stories like this make my departure so sad. All that will happen for me is that I'll get an exit interview with HR and thats it. I might have lunch with some friends. Thats probably it.

That problematic, eh?

When I left my last position, I blew 20k on parties alone...

Ooops - that was INR, not USD (plenty of egg on face :getout ) Sorry!

Anyway, the day I landed at the new job, I was hopelessly broke (and had a hangover to boot)

Funny. I also had a party at my last office .. but I had it the night before my last day at the office. So my hangover ensured that my last day there was not memorable. I think I even had to run to the restroom twice to throw-up
