Hey everyone! I’m seeking advice on my exam strategy. I have a 10-day deadline to submit my score, aiming for 605.I already used 3 official practice tests (including retakes of 1 & 2) for my previous attempt, but I couldn’t score well. I was not confident in my skills and had a lot of test anxiety during that attempt. I took a break, studied again from various sources, practiced a lot of OG questions, and did targeted practice on weak areas in GMAT Club forums over the past 3 months. Here are my recent mock scores. I took every test imitating actual test conditions—no pauses, no breaks, and used scratchpad markers. I also had the same meals, snacks, and gave it at the same time.- May 22nd – GMAT Club Free Mock: 615 (Q80 V82 DI 79)
- June 2nd – Official Practice Test 4: 525 (Q74 V77 DI 77)
- June 8th – GMAT Club Mock 1 (Lite Membership): 595 (Q80 V81 DI 78)
- June 12th – Official Practice Test 3 Retake: 535 (Q79 V77 DI 73)
Some insights on my last mock:- Quant: 3 careless errors
- Verbal: Hard CR questions timing issue, which made me rush the last RC passage and ended up getting all 4 questions wrong
- DI: 2 careless errors in TA. Wasted 5 minutes on 1 DS question and had to guess the last 2 questions
My weakest areas right now:- Math-based DS
- CR time management
- Hard RC passages
- Sequences in Quant
- Careless errors in algebra & exponents
I was pretty excited and confident after seeing my first mock score cross my target, but now I’m starting to doubt myself. There’s almost a 60–80 point difference between my mock scores. I don’t know if GMAT Club mocks are easier than the official practice tests, but this difference was something I did not expect. Another possible reason could be that I try "
too hard" on the official practice tests and end up fumbling them. I am struggling to have a positive mindset right now.
Anyway, I’m planning to give my final official mock 3 days before the exam. Until then, I’ll be focusing on getting used to time pressure and review my time management strategy for each section by taking sectional 45-minute tests. Review weak areas and practice it. 1 more GMAT club full-length mock to train my test stamina. Extra focus on DS and RC passages, while not neglecting the other sections. I have a lot of time since I’m not working right now, but I need to make sure I don’t burn out before the test day and reach my maximum possible score.
I believe my potential is higher than 535—but I wanna be realistic. Is 605 still achievable? And is my approach to test day good enough? Do I need to make any changes? Any advice would be a great help!
Thank you in advance!
