okay, this is my first post and i know there's some other, more appropriate thread where this belongs, but the fit's hit the shan and my gmat is 45 days away.
my simple question is/are:
1) should i apply NOW or only after geting my gmat scores 45 days hence?
2) What's the usual lead time between requesting and receiving the actual forms?
3) What dya'll vote for? Request for forms now or after G-Day?
PS: Mods, is there a thread that outlines the step-by-step application process?looked for it but didnt find any one specific thread. Cheerio!

45 days from now will be after most of the R1 deadlines. Also, it may not be the best idea to try to write out the app essays, fill out the forms etc while preparing for the GMAT. I'd suggest taking the GMAT, and depending on your score pick the schools you would like to apply to in the first round. As far as materials go, most of the info can be found on line or in .pdf form. That being said, if there are information events and receptions for schools that you are interested between now and G-day go to them. G'luck on the GMAT, and on your apps. Cheers.

You need to have your GMAT done before you can apply. So if you tests isnt for 45 days thats bordering on R1 deadlines. You are much better off waiting until R2 so you can focus on the GMAT then focus on your apps without becoming overwhelmed. Also you don't know what you will have for a score.
If you don't do as well as you hope then you may have to decrease your expectation for schools or you might do so well that you decide to go for the very top schools even if you weren't originally planning on it.
