Last year, a group of tourists planned to visit three places. Among the tourists, 44% went to Europe, 49% went to Asia and 39% went to Australia. If 12% of the tourists visited exactly two of the three mentioned places, and everyone visited at least one of the three places, then what percentage of the total tourists visited exactly one place?

Percentage of tourists went exactly 2 places= 12
Let Percentage of tourists went all 3 places= x
100= 44+49+39-12-2x
x=10
percentage of the total tourists visited exactly one place= 100=12-10=78
Percentage of tourists went to Asia, As= 49
Percentage of tourists went to Australia, Au= 39
Percentage of tourists went exactly 2 places= 12
Let Percentage of tourists went all 3 places= x

Solution:
- o \(a+ b +c +d +e +f +g = 100\)…(i)
- o \(a + d+e +g = 44\)
o \(b + d + f + g = 49\)
o \(c + e + f + g = 39\)
o Adding above equations, we get
- o \(a + b + c + 2(d+e+f) + 3g = 44 + 49 + 39 = 132\)…(i)
- o \(d+e+f + 2g = 132 – 100 = 32\)…(iii)
o Now, \(d + e + f = 12\)
- o On substituting this value in equation (iii), we get
- \(12 + 2g = 32\)
\(2g = 32 – 12\)
\(g = 10\)
- o \(a+b+c+12 + 10 = 100\)
- o \(a+b+c = 100 - 22 = 78\)
