Looking for honest feedback on my chances.
Profile:
- Brown male, 20
- Top Target (LSE/Oxbridge) undergrad, doing the well-known hardest course there is here (Very Quantitative with finance, math, stats, modules)
- My current average is 59, but I've nearly locked in a 2.1 and will likely end up with a mid-2.1 (65), as my last-year modules are significantly easier than what I've had to do so far, and I'm done with all the hard stuff.
- GMAT: prepping now, targeting 710+ (not yet sat but on mocks I'm getting 680-690 without proper prep yet)
- Internships: Big 4 M&A and Rx Advisory (10 weeks deal experience), Secondaries advisory (6 weeks, deal experience), Family Office (L/S Equity, 6 Weeks, 4bn aum), hedge fund (4-5 months, while at uni, 500m aum)
Recommendations: not sure, but I know a few lbs alumni who will happily write a letter/referral, and other senior industry leaders from internships I can reach out to if that helps. - Extracurriculars: Sports society (Captain, and done tournaments), Chess (very highly ranked at peak a few years ago), Tennis (inter-university competitions)
- Languages: English, Spanish (B2-C1), Hindi
Plan: Applying late March/early April once my winter results come out, because that will confirm the 2:1 and my average will be above 60, and I can get a summer internship offer as well to boost my application.
My question is: should I apply early and risk a weaker grade, even though a 2.1 is locked in if I wait a bit?
Would also appreciate views on HEC Paris MIF and St. Gallen MBF as backups. What else should I be doing beyond the obvious (GMAT, essays, recs)?
