Can actually speak to a few other ones on that list:
- 3M: really similar work to consulting where it’s a lot of growth strategy projects. For example, customer segmentation and buyer personas, new product entry, pricing strategy, market share gain, etc. Decent project work, although culture is quite slow since Minneapolis is more of a family Midwestern city and also has a very old company feel. Plus, it’s a manufacturing company for primarily B2Bs. I’d say the work is actually quite similar to what PMMs at Facebook do where it’s a balance of quantitative and qualitative analysis for Product Strategy. But you’re looking at a significantly less exciting industry, which also means not top tier talent nor consistent quality managers.
- Discover: most of the rotations go through Marketing type functions. It could be very analytical around optimizing marketing spend with analytics or very technical with managing the user experience of the digital platform/products.
- Chevron: this program is the cream de la creme of the company. The cohorts are fairly small, but the entire company knows the hires for this LDP are being groomed to be senior leaders and they have huge buy-in from current leaders. So there’s a ton of clout. It’s pretty quantitative since it’s the Oil & Gas industry. There’s 3 rotations and I believe one of them is 6 months international, which is super cool. Not very aware of the inner-company culture and politics here.

There’s probably more I’m informed of from that list, but those ones stuck out to me when I skimmed the list.
