I'd say LEK has a pretty good rep at B schools. A decent number of former LEKers, especially considering its smaller size, are at top schools.

I have a friend who knows a couple that worked at LEK. I'm not sure how it compares to other consulting gigs, but they were putting in a TON of hours. Maybe 10-12 hours per day, some hours on the weekend?

maybe I'm just misinformed but 10-12 hours of work a day for consulting does not seem like that much? What is common for consulting, I was under the impression average weeks were 60 but ranged from 50-85 on awful weeks is that off?

Thanks

I agree that 10-12 isn't a ton for consulting. 12 is getting there though. Various LEK people told me that they average 60+ hours/week, but that weeks of 80-90 were not uncommon.

LEK does a lot of private equity work, especially diligence stuff, so it tends to be a lot of very short, very intense projects with crazy hours. In some respects, it's like working for an investment bank but getting consulting pay.

They are also strong in life sciences (again, a lot of M&A, especially "screening" type of projects), which reflects the Boston headquarters, and apparently transportation (their Boston headquarters as of last October had a really cool case study on strategies for airports) and media.

Agree on the due diligence stuff -- heavy, heavy analytical.. they pride themselves on that. Very good work product

Best of luck!

Look at these rankings, looks solid in terms of prestige.

how much stake do people actually put in these rankings?

I know m/b/b are the tops and booz is a 4th, but with firms like accenture / EY PWC KPMG DT IBM they aren't really strategy consulting firms so I don't really know how to process the rankings

Actually, Deloitte Consulting does strategy consulting.
