Letters are sent out to invite people to a dinner party. In every letter, there are three invitations. Every invitation allows a guest to bring along two friends. Assuming that all invited guests and their friends attend the dinner, how many letters should be sent so that 30 tables of 12 seats will be fully occupied?

Answer: 40 letters should be sent
each letter can send 3 invitations
each invitation can take 3 people in(including the invitation holder)
therfore 1 letter can take 9 people to the party
Its mentioned 30 tables of 12 seats are to be filled
so 30*12=360
Divide 360 seats by 9 people
answer:40 letters
each letter can send 3 invitations

To solve this question what we I did is,
Find the maximum number of people that can come from one letter.
1 letter gives 3 invitation and 1 invitation invites 3 people (the person getting the invitation and the 2 friends)
So 1 letter = 9 people
Total seats (or guests they want)is 30*12 = 360
Now let’s just divide 360 by 9
360/9 = 40
40 letters should be sent
To further check our answer we do 40*9 = 360
Which is right.
Answer = B
